It's a motherfucking walk-off!
So I was totally underwhelmed by the finale. I have to say. Everyone irritated. Everyone.
I really wanted to see Danny V win as a concept, but his collection was scattered and mediocre. He really, truly failed to live up to his potential. I do think that's part of his youth, though - he's only, what, a year and a half older than I am? That's still pretty young. I think as hematures, he's going to have a great eye and make beautiful things, but his collection was totally meh and he didn't deserve it. And his thirteenth dress was, well, a gunney sack. It should have been used as something in which to keep flour, and nothing else.
Santino's collection was, well, pretty. Badly fitted, as they pointed out (way too much boob flapping due to said poorly fitting, which, ick), but overall not bad to look at. I... I... *chokes* I liked his best. I don't think he deserved to win, though; he should have been off the show at Team Lingerie, or Sasha Cohen. He screwed up and didn't deserve to be at fashion week at all, and I'd much rather have seen a collection by Nick or Andrae, whose name I still haven't bothered to look up the proper spelling.
I hated Chloe's collection. A lot. I thought it was as circusy and ridiculous as everything Santino did all season; I hated her shrugs, I hated the open sleeves, I hated everything. It was the one that looked most like a collection, but it was an ugly one. I agree that she's got good business sense and some flair; I suppose I can't disagree with her win over all, but she's also never done anything I've particularly liked or been interested in.
Honestly, if I'd only seen the finale, I would have marveled that any of them were there; and I wouldn't have wanted any of them to win. As it is, the only reason I wish Danny won over Chloe was because I *heart* him and don't care about her, but I can't make an argument for that in terms of fashion/talent. So there you go.
What I would, however, like to see is a battle to the death between
No, she's all mine.
It's funny Santino said the Boudouir influenced his collection because I was thinking it all sorta resembled nightgowns and lingere. Which is why I think I gave leeway for the boobs being all about. As nightgowns aren't really knowns for their uplifting. I do think he should have gone SANTINO on the collection in some way. The one that I saw as the most SANTINO-Y was the 13th design since it used that sort of lacey fabric with the detail. I mean on one hand everyone is all "Another weirdly cut off one shoulder not the other neck line with braiding and cutouts...please" but then you kinda are hoping to see it executed really well for once since he had time and money to do so (like in his very first design the muslin one).
And Chole's while the FIT of the outfits were nice. Was both boring, and slightly ugly in my opinion. That pink was fucking ghastly, and the balloon arms were atrocious.
Santino's collection wasn't well fitted like... at all. I liked stuff because it was pretty, but... eh. It showed sophistication I really liked about Santino.
Chloe's poofy-balloon-first-outfit is, as I keep telling people, huge in Japanese design--it reminded me of the ugly dress Danv made for the inspiration challenge. I thought her 13th was great. I liked the way she played with lines. Even if it was characteristic for her, it's refreshing and classy.
