I have a degree in muderology *and* muderonomy!

RIP Sam I Am, January 2001-February 2005
Well, Sam is dead as a doornail. Or at least dormant as a doornail. Or... something.

Matt, being very nice, tried to revive him. But he wouldn't boot from a CD, and he wouldn't boot via firewire, and taking out and reinstalling the hard drive didn't reconnect anything that had come loose, so...

Well, he was four years old; he had a good life. He was loved.

That said, I also ordered a lovely 12" iBook tonight. Which may have helped advance me to the "acceptance" stage of mourning fairly quickly. (It has no official name yet because someone *cough* stole my name last semester, but at the moment I'm leaning towards Matsui. I mean, when I list things I'd like my computer to be, strong, reliable, ready to work every day, and generally awesome come to mind. So the name seems to work. I'm still open to suggestions, though.)

And now I fear that if I don't pay attention to Dan, he might explode.

Good news: once I send my resume and personal statement to the previously mentioned internship, I will have an interview sheduled for Wednesday.

Bad news: my computer died, so I don't have my resume anymore. (I'm writing this on Dan's.)

Worse news: my computer died.

This isn't necessarily eternal sleep dead, but this is, "I give up; I love you, Sam, but I just can't take this relationship anymore! I think it's time we went our separate ways."

Hopefully, he can be revived tomorrow, at least for long enough for me to get a copy of my resume, the 20 pages of the story I've written in the last three days, the last (finally completed) chapter of the Saga, and ALL OF MY NOTES for ALL OF MY CLASSES this semester.

Luckily, for the last couple weeks I'd been negotiating with the 'rents to get a new computer. So... It looks like I will!

Except until I do, I HAVE NO COMPUTER GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. BECKY SMASH.

Um.

(Dan: "Awww! Tiny Becky smashes!"
Me: "Grrrrrrr.")

la la la, this keeps happening
So my computer cord finally bit the dust last night. It had been on its last legs for awhile, held together by electric tape and will power, but that can only last so long. It stopped acknowledging that it was plugged in at all last night, and when I went to redo the tape to see if that would help, started spitting sparks at me. So I unplugged it, shut Sam down, and that's that.

I have another cord at school, but let's just say... Well. I brought this one home because it seemed to have deteriorated less.

Meh.

Anyway, I'm pretty much offline until I get back to school, which is not such a big deal since it's only a week and Margot will be here for four of those days(yay!). I'll be checking email and *possibly* on AIM a bit through my Mom's computer, but PCs and I don't jive, so we'll see how that goes.

Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy the rest of your break, should I not be able to keep track of everyone.

(Also, I've hit that point of reversed slee schedule where my body has given up, declared that it wants sunlight goddamnit, so even though I went to bed at six, I woke up at ten and couldn't get back to sleep. Sadly, it's so foggy we can't see out the windows, so my body's plan of daylight was foiled. That'll teach it... I mean me. Whatever.)
