A Mighty Fine Life

So I felt quite a bit better Sunday and Monday, and then Tuesday woke up with an incredibly sore throat and started having coughing fits. Came home early from work, stayed home today, and have been "working from home" which means "sitting on the couch watching TV" (and occasionally coding stuff for work, but they've only contacted me, like... twice all day).

Flipping channels led to me watching Catch That Kid on Disney XD, because it stars bitty Corbin. (Also bitty Kristen Stewart.) So it's extremely bad, but there's this love triangle subplot where Corbin and the Other Dude are both in love with K-Stew (even though they're, like... 13?) and refuse to help her rob the bank to save her father (the "plot," as it were) until she decides which one of them she wants to date. So she gives them each half of an "I love you" heart necklace and tells each one not to tell the other. Hijinks ensue, etc etc, and anyway, it turns out, Corbin has always come across as wicked gay on screen. It was mildly disconcerting. He was a baby.

(Well, 14 if my math is right, but he looks super duper younger than that.)

Also in the last scene of the movie, K-Stew makes the boys turn around while she tries to decide which one of them to go out with, and then she runs away and leaves them discussing how they'll always be best friends, no matter what.

I really need to not slash Disney movies quite so hard. Speaking of which... *cough*

And now I may go back to bed. WHY AM I STILL SICK? Blehhhh.

The Beautiful Life-Colon-TBL is canceled. Other sources say it's being pulled immediately, meaning: no more new episodes airing.

Awwww. Poor Corbin.

I mean, it's not exactly a tragedy, because good god that show was bad (seriously, how do you make a show about backstabbing young sexy models boring???); but this means there will be less Corbin Bleu on my teevee, that is sad for meeeee.

So. In conclusion: that was extremely boring and overall poorly acted, but ZOMGCORBIN1!11!11one.

So VH1 is showing the Beatles Anthology to promote Beatles Rockband. I haven't watched it since it originally aired in 1995 and accidentally changed my life; some of that had to do with music and message or whatever, but mostly it was because through the Beatles I cemented my friendship with Noelle and Jared and Sarah, and we wrote a book and everything was groovy (and in fact, the name Queen Itsy comes from that book, but I've gotten sidetracked.)

Anyway, the second episode ends with Hello Goodbye's video, and WOW, I had forgotten how UTTERLY AMAZING these outfits are.

Becky: Sort of! Nothing makes any sense and there are no consequences, but I rarely spend episodes of Psych listing all the implausibilities!

So Rachel just showed me two episodes of Leverage. ZOMG THIS SHOW IS RIDICUMAZING. It's incredibly silly and nothing makes sense and if I didn't have to go to bed I could easily watch another five episodes.

But what I REALLY want is fic (...or an episode...) where they crossover with Psych, because the shows have the same vibe where nothing actually makes sense, there are no consequences, and nothing ever ends badly for Our Heroes. Like, the Leverage team is stealing from some villain, but someone gets killed nearby and they get arrested! Shawn is investigating and has to prove that they're innocent! He would try and presumably fail to charm Parker! Gus and Voodoo from Friday Night Lights could have a nerd-off! It would be awesome and nothing would make any sense!!!

Also, Jane from Coupling is there. That startled me in each and every scene.

The Sexy Guys of Greek

Hi. So. There's this show on ABC Family, which is really, really good. (Good enough that I'm baffled it's on ABC family. I mean, really?) It's smart and well written, it's a cast that features both gay characters and characters of color in major roles, it does both drama and comedy brilliantly. And above all, it has amazing, amazing characters.

But there seems to be no fandom. This makes me feel like this: :(((((((((((

So I am determined to convince everyone I have ever met to watch it. Have a massively short intro: Greek is an hour-long dramedy that airs Monday nights on ABC Family. It follows Casey Cartwright, a junior at Cypress-Rhodes University, who hopes to become president of Zeta Beta Zeta, the school's best sorrority; and her little brother Rusty, an extremely nerdy freshman who is pledging at Kappa Tau Gamma, the school's worst fraternity. Casey is stuck in a love triangle, with her current douche of a boyfriend, Evan, and her ultra-dreamy but definitely immature ex, Cappie. Rusty deals with his Bible-thumping but surprisingly endearing roommate Dale, and somehow ends up friends with closeted all-around cool kid Calvin. Wacky (and not-so-wacky) hijinks ensue all around.

Got all that? Good. Now aside from being surprisingly smart and progressive and awesomely written, a lot of the cast is also SO HOT. So here: Have a massive picspam of hottest members of the male cast. (Next time will be female cast, as they are also super hot.)

After their awkward night pretending to be friends, Cappie is getting all nostalgic for the Evan he knew as a kid the fun guy he really liked just hanging out with. He's single and kind of lonely, since Casey is obviously in srs love with Max and Rebecca has just given him the "aren't you glad we're friends?" speech.

Meanwhile Evan is all angsty, y/y? He's having his Rich Kid Issues with his family and friends, he's cheating on Frannie anyway, and he's just looking for someone who doesn't want anything from him, and something that just feels...good. Ya know?

Anyway, they run into each other at Dobblers, Evan buys Cappie a beer for old times' sake, Cappie accepts for the same reason, and three or four rounds later, they get a hotel room and...

THEY MADE THE "I THOUGHT YOU TWO WERE GONNA KISS" JOKE LIKE 10 MINUTES AGO, HOW IS THIS NOT WRITTEN YET?????

In other news, wow. Sonny With a Chance. That....that was a pretty gay B-plot tonight, what with Nico and Grady competing for a date with my favorite Chad Dylan Cooper. And then him not taking either one of them so he could hook up with a chick. An idea which had NEVER OCCURRED to the random sidekicks. I am kind of loving Sterling Knight, by the way. How excited am I that he plays Zef's kid in 17 Again? SO EXCITED.

ZOMG SO GOOD.

I don't watch The Hills and don't care to, but I accidentally started watching Bromance With Brody Jenner. It's...amazing. Seriously. The most recent dude got kicked off for being "too bromantic" with a dude who (gasp) wasn't Brody! So this was his elimination montage:



AMAZING. HELL YES I will be watching the season finale, where Brody introduces his bros to his mom, and then goes home to meet their families. IT'S NOT GAY, because when they get in the hot tub together to talk about their feelings, they have women nearby.

As if I didn't love Zuko enough already, in season three he has FLOPPY HAIR.

In short: I know I'm late to the party, but better late than never. Avatar is AMAZING.

I went to work for the first time in a week and a half today. Luckily, it was not the mess I feared, and nothing exploded without me. On the other hand, absolutely nothing I did today went right, and I could feel myself getting sick as I sat at my desk. Things I did not have this morning but do now: a stuffed up head, a sore throat, and a headache.

In much better news, I'm halfway through season two of Avatar, after marathoning season one in two sittings with Margot over vacation. Oh my GOD. I love everything about the show. If it had been around when I was 13, I'd have written the world's most EPIC Mary Sue about how I need to hug Zuko IMMEDIATELY and then fix his broken life. Because poor baby is BROKEN and I LOVE HIM.

That's all I got. Dinner now; then Tylenol PM and collapsing in bed.

The people who've had the pie can attest, even when it turns out brick-like, it is amazing. We actually just finished eating the meal itself (the pie needs to chill for a few hours) and it was all fantastic. We only really cook one day a year, so it's remarkable things turned out as well as they did.

And now, back to the traditional Turkey Day MST3K Marathon. Because some traditions never get old.
